We are a not-for -profit Community Support Organization that has provided financial support to families and adolescents living in the shires of Nillumbik and Banyule for over 30 years.
Thanks to the support of St. Margaret’s parishioners and other organizations in the community we regularly award a Judith Ireland Studentship worth between $500-700 (depending on our funds) to a grade six student in 23 Primary schools in the area to assist with their educational expenses when they start secondary school. This studentship is named after psychologist Judith Ireland a faithful parishioner of St. Margaret’s for many years before she passed away. Judith was passionate about helping families and adolescents who were experiencing financial difficulties.
We also assist secondary school students who need educational financial assistance such as for music camp payments, sports uniforms, books and any other educational needs identified by their school as worthy of support.
We consider requests from local Sporting Clubs. Scouts and Guides, as we see these are important experiences for young people.
There is no application form. All requests for assistance must come through the student’s school or Club’s President.
Each year we hold a fund-raising lunch held in St. Margaret’s mud brick hall and are entertained by music students from a local secondary school. We are very grateful for the financial support given to us by St. Margaret’s for this event.
We would welcome new volunteers to join us in this mission of support for the community.
